Microbiology and Immunology
The Microbiology and Immunology Program is one of the specialized research and training areas within the Integrated Program in Cellular, Molecular and Biomedical Studies and offers research in core microbiological principles of DNA replication and bacterial growth, virology and host-virus interactions, malaria and Plasmodium falciparum genetics and drug resistance, as well as multiple aspects of research in immunology. The latter spans immune cell differentiation, intracellular signaling, graft tolerance vs. rejection, the gut and oral microbiomes and their interaction with the immune system, and the genetics and molecular basis of cancer progression in immune effector cells.
